That's a good typo, haha..

I typically clean with a solvent before applying epoxy... all the surfaces are always sanded before the solvent cleaning. So much sanding..!

I just tried 99.9% Isopropyl Alcohol and it also dissolves the primer but not nearly as quick or completely as the acetone.

With some online research, I'm seeing some surface prep solvent/cleaner for acrylic automotive primer that I could try..

Anyone know what will happen if I apply epoxy primer over this acrylic primer? And do you have suggestions for solvent wiping down the acrylic before epoxy filler, and before epoxy primer?

Some balsa core on in the rear, on the sides up above the floor:

It is rotten towards the back, but dry.

Acetone melting the old primer. You can see that the dissolved primer was brought in to the the cavities by the acetone, and is now dry. Not good. :

Also weighed the hull and motor today:

Bare hull with home made setback/jackplate, some motor bolts, helm with cable and steering wheel, no top paint, not sure how much of the hoist straps are in this: 153kg

Motor without cowl, full Pro50 bracket and trim, power cables: 86kg

Leaving those numbers in metric to mess with the Bucknells. :twisted:

Epoxy will bond to any substrate but best recommendation for materials and prep solvents should come from your glass/topcoat supplier.

It's funny how mixed up we are over measurements. I work on American built vehicles with metric fasteners. On safety inspections, I measure brake specs in metric, but tire specs are imperial. Tire sidewall info is metric. Everybody wants to try and figure out what l/100km is when all they understand is mpg. :?

The motor weighs 189.2 lbs. w/o cowl? Wow, ours weighs 167 lbs. with cowl. However, that does not include power trim. That adds another 16 lbs. That puts us at 183lbs. w/trim. Steering bars add another 4-5 lbs. Your boat weighs 336 lbs., so total weight w/o driver is about 526 lbs. Add 2 gallons of fuel at 14 lbs. and your total is 540 lbs. We are at 546 lbs. w/o top boat cowl. Cowl weighs 16 lbs. so our total is 562 lbs. I weigh 225lbs. You are totally in the ballpark with all of us. However, Jessie is considerably lighter than the rest of us with boat weight & body weight.
Everything is in pounds to mess with Matt. Lol

Thom, after weighing the motor and hull at home, I did some estimating total weight and it came to approx 643lbs ready to race with the safety gear and helmet in the boat. I included all that because that's what I had on the crane at PTBO in this past fall. I'm trying to find my records from PTBO2018, but I think I remember the crane scale reading 650lbs.
