WHAT WE SAW IN OUR 2019 SEASON
We still have a split with some T boats only running OPBRA or TORC.
We had no T850's running TORC
We had two S750 tunnels running OPBRA.
We saw the start of TRIPLE Drag racing in OPBRA.
We saw several T boats come back to run at OPBRA Peterborough.
In the USA we saw a decline in TRIPLE Drag racing boat counts.
We saw the beginning of the NEW Tom and Andrew Delta boat building.
We saw TORC announce a NEW race at PICTON for June 2020.

WE NEED TO GET TEENS RACING IN T CLASS!!
Without changing any of a current rules [age?] in T and having a PROBATION DRAG Class in 2020 we could do this.

T-444 Class
T......V hull......594lb minimum same as T750
4..... 14 minimum age
4..... 40 hp maximum STOCK MOTOR
4..... 40 cubic inch maximum [so you can run a twin or triple]
Boats would race with T750 and be part of the drag group.
Racers are encouraged to race both oval and drag.
Points given for both oval and drag to go toward class champion
At every race an extra $10.00 per entry for a T-444 class lucky draw.

PERFECT FIT OF THE NEW DELTA!!

THIS CLASS ALLOWS A WIDE RANGE OF MOTORS TO BE LEGAL INCLUDING GT30 MOTORS AND MOST 30 to 40 HP 2 STROKES!!

T class currently has TWO very competitive classes T-750 and T-850. The T-444 class is for racers interested in moving up to T-750 or T-850 in later years. It is also for racers not wanting to race in a very competitive class, but still want the fun that comes with racing and at slower speeds and at less equipment cost. T-444 will be a 45 to 50 mph class. They will NOT be competitive with the T-750's, but, there will be lots of head to head racing in the pack. A Delta hull is more dual purpose than a Critchfield. There are many motors that fit the class and some like the 35 hp OMC triple , 3 carb ,35 cubic inch motor have possibilities. Others like the 30 hp yamaha triple and there are many single carb and twin carb two cylinder motors. The GT30 4 strokes and E-tec motors will also be competitive. YOU DON'T NEED TO RUN 60 PLUS MPH TO HAVE FUN. YOU JUST NEED MANY BOATS IN THE CLASS TO RACE WITH!!

You need to take a fresh look into the motors that fit this class.
We already have a 45 cubic inch class T-750 using 43 cubic inch triples and twins up to 49 cubic inch.
We don't need to duplicate ANY motors.

YOU RUN THESE MOTORS BONE STOCK.
YOU ARE IN THIS CLASS TO GAIN EXPERIENCE AND HAVE FUN!!

Some would love to run a GT30 4 stroke 30 hp Tohatsu....YOU CAN IN THIS CLASS.
Others want to run the common low cost 35 hp twin OMC that runs in APBA.....YOU CAN IN THIS CLASS.

THERE ARE MANY MAKES AND MODELS TO SELECT FROM.
Here are just TWO .....I looked at
Twin cylinder 40 hp 40 cubic inch Mercury and Mariner.......single carb.
https://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/Njg0WDEwMjQ= ... G/$_86.JPG

Twin cylinder 40 hp 36 cubic inch Yamaha and Mariner .....TWIN CARB
https://www.kijiji.ca/v-powerboat-motor ... 1465726813

BOTH CAME WITH SHORT SHAFT MODELS AND FACTORY POWER TRIM.
BOTH USE MERCURY 13 SPLINE RACE PROPS....SAME AS YAMAHA TRIPLES ETC. ON EACH MOTOR.
LOTS OF PROP SELECTION!

I think my guess of a 45 to 50 mph class is reasonable with the 40 cubic inch motor on Deltas and Critchfields.
Here is a video of the UIM 40 hp T550 class using wing style boats.
The motor is the 31 cubic inch Tohatsu single carb twin .

Mark, I have heard from a few other people interested in this class. I asked them to post showing their interest.
A major problem we have is we are connecting with the same people over and over on this site. We need to expand to reach more people. Having a T-Boat at the Toronto Boat Show was a big reason T Class grew. We can't get people to cover the booth so we stopped having the booth. The TORC Gravenhurst June race was a great site for T Class. Now turn out is poor. OPBRA Peterborough is now our best option to show case this class. Even 3 boats would be a good start especially if we had a new Delta outfit.

I have no hand in the building of new Deltas.

WE NEED TO GET TEENS RACING IN T CLASS. Father racing sons and daughters, T racers mentoring younger drivers, Club support to help with safety gear, other T racers switching motors to run two T Classes, maybe a T driving school and T party.

To make T Class more interesting we need to look at THE SPORTS CAR CLUB OF AMERICAN RACES.
They run different classes or groups in the same race. Everything from one offs to stock.
T can do the same.
Some T racers like a pure MOD T850 class. Run what you BRUNG!
Others like the original T850 rules.
Some would like VP75 class.
ALL of these can run under the current T850 rules.

Now look at T750
Teens are limited to 40 hp up to age 16.
We want to be responsible so T-444 group would run stock 40 hp motors.
The 40 cubic inch rule limits the displacement and keeps the class slower.
IF you want to run a 40 hp with larger displacement it runs in the class where the motor displacement fits.
A 40 yamaha 43 cubic inch would be a T750...a 40 hp Mercury 59 cubic inch would run T-850.
T-444 would not only feed T class but also drag.
You only need 3 or 4 similar boats with equal performance for those racers to have FUN!!

Its sad but teens these days typically dont care about this kind of sport. Most dont care to drive a car anymore.
I feel for the ones that do want their own car. The expense is huge. Seeing as this generation wants newer cars for their first ride. No more $500 $hitters lol

The teens that will race are from parents of our boating community. These guys have the support and maybe some of their friends will follow suit or at least crew.

There are some proposed changes to OPBRA that may generate some youth participation in T.
Stay tuned.
