TORC....T class wasn’t there last year so this is a extra race for 2023...5 boat minimum. For those lake T guys who have never run their T boat around a race course I am positive you will enjoy the experience . Talk to your fellow T guys.... its even a better experience when you get out there and race with people you know. Paul Coulter is the T Class Rep at TORC and he will be able to answer your questions. The largest T group racing are from Six Mile Lake and they would welcome more competitors .
T Class like many other raceboat classes has a history of racers being heavily involved in the class for two to three years and then dropping out for many years only to return again to racing in the class. A few of the people that I communicated with about returning to T class racing thought they weren’t competitive and that was their reason. When I started T class in 2006 we had a similar situation. The solution was boat count! Once we got over 13 boats registered for a race we were allowed to run 2 heats in the class. We split the field and had the faster boats all in one heat. On day two of the weekend we switched the last two finishing boats in the fast heat with two boats from the slower heat. We also had a lucky draw each day for $100.00 for all T racers.
My understanding is that T750 class boats would run in with the T850 boats if there are not 5 entries in T750. There would need to be 3 T750 boats in order for them to get points. We proved in races that a top T750 was more than competitive against a big gearcase stock OMC
49 cubic inch or 56 inch.

Thanks Don

Yes T's at tweed, Gravenhurst and Haliburton this year, we could look at the Erinsville race as well if there was enough boat count.

We'd love to see more boats out to race in both classes, everyone of the current racers is always willing to help out getting people on the water helping with set up. If you want to improve your driving and knowledge come out to the race.

Happy to chat with any one interested

Cheers

[quote="Hounddog"]... The solution was boat count! Once we got over 13 boats registered for a race we were allowed to run 2 heats in the class. We split the field and had the faster boats all in one heat.

TORC web site shows the 2013 high points standings for all the classes including T850 and T750. We had “22” total entries in both classes. T750 had 7 boats and T850 had 15 boats. Look at the number of “different top 3 finishers in T850”. The class was very competitive! The other difference was the different makes a models of outboards and boat models that were racing and were competitive.
- OMC 49 cubic inch
- OMC 56 cubic inch fishing motor
-OMC SST 60
-mercury 650XS
- mercury 60 hp 59 cubic inch
- Yamaha 70CES
T class was a big show at the races. Fans liked the different makes of boats and motors .
One word in the rules stood out “STOCK “ . There is no grey area when that word is in the rules. The 160 compression rule was done for 2 reasons ....reducing the power of the SST 60 motor....increasing the power of the 56 fishing motor.
In T750 we followed the UIM minimum weight of 524 lbs. In our T class here we have the same boat size minimum in both T750 and T850. The thought was young drivers would start in T750 and move up to T850. They could use the same boat. Our boats are heavier and I would like to see T750 minimum weight at 675 Lbs. That would make more boats competitive.
