How to verify Tach?

I'd like to set something up to verify what my Livosi is telling me. I've never played around with an external Tach system before. Are there any tach systems that will work off of a plug wire and read into the 8500rpm range?

I used to use a Tiny Tach..they work well...clips to a plug wire and will turn 8k+. Digitrons work great too but they are significantly more expensive.

FWIW My Autometer is out 2-300 rpm versus the digitron in my boat.

Yes, a tiny tack will read above that range. I have a spare one I picked up for the other Tboat, I can bring to Dok's if you like to give it a test...sure want to make sure setup to be good

Yes, a tiny tack will read above that range. I have a spare one I picked up for the other Tboat, I can bring to Dok's if you like to give it a test...sure want to make sure setup to be good

No worries I owe you and it's not that big of a deal it was already in the car! :lol:

The wire on it is short, do you want it up front to compare to the other tack while running or only want max rpm read. I have wire to extend it..hell I'll put the wire in the car and you can do what ever you want.
