Bruce Bourquin of Penryn Calif., passed away at home unexpectedly at the age of 67. He was recovering from a bad fall from a tree on August 14, 2012. Bruce was the designer and builder of the Grand Prix tunnel boats for over 35 years.
Very well known gentleman in the OPC APBA Series. I was lucky enough to spend time with him a few years ago at the PROP race in Hartford. Ted at Speedmaster just sold a Grand Prix boat to Brian Venton a few weeks ago. Ted ran 2 of Bruce's tunnels in the APBA F1 series 2 years ago with great success. I still have the last wood SST 60 hull Bruce made. Bruce used it to make the molds for the fiberglass ones that followed. He will be missed!
