Another group to keep our eye on is the Upper Midwest Powerboat Association. Their rules seem fairly relaxed and I am unsure of how well it creates competitive classes but they seem to be doing very well.

...We could all go up to Gregg's place in the spring and have a sandbag fight lol

I'll be there. (Momo). Just not sure what ill have for a motor yet. Sooooo many choices lol.

With my 245 carb, on a 20" I assume I'll still be in Lake Racer.

If I go 260, that will put me in the next class right?

Humm

To be honest a 245 is a 260 with a carb front half. Same block porting and will run with one if tuned correctly. So you actually fit in the middle class. But boat count will help that out for sure.

They run a pretty good little program for sure.

For the benefit of those new to the game it will be worth mentioning what's required before getting the boat wet.
- race licenses
- boat numbers
- memberships
- fees
- etc.....

T guys held a VERY successful 2012 'T Party' on 6ML second weekend of May, likely to repeat in 2013.
For 2013, there are 9 T racers on 6ML, with another 7-8 T750/850 rigs requiring minor race conversion.
Second weekend of May remains quiet in cottage country, Cidiots not up yet before 2-4 weekend, water temp becoming tolerable.
It would be great to have drags and t's together on a pond for a spring testing opener, but likely too much action, asking for trouble, noise complaints, tree huggers, speed dialing authorities.
Kashe might be ideal for Drags.

Pencil in Sat May 11, with Sun 12th as rain day for 2013 T-Party, and Drag Queens, lakes TBD.

Each on their own pond the 2 classes could conduct their own clinic/test/safety inspection/weigh-in, help the 2013 'Newbies' get comfortable.

Even for 'fun' testing, each group MUST exercise discipline around safety, and liability, with manned rescue boats, procedures, absolutely no alcohol, mandate full safety cutsuits/helmets/jackets.
If we want to be taken seriously, we need to represent ourselves seriously.

NB/Himagain/P@/Jeff make salient point: sanctioned and controlled racing bring discipline of safety, and rescue to the forefront. It's delusional to think a WOT(80+++mph) run down your lake before dusk after a couple of beers is safer than a controlled race environment.

NOT yet approved by TORC, but likely 2013 race dates:

Waterford: June 8-9 (too small for Drags)
Gravenhurst: June 22-23 (all classes)
TBD: July 20-21 (all classes)
DV: Aug 17-18 (all classes)
Crystal Lake, NY (Stock Outboard)

AS previously mentioned above, in addition to passing personal and boat safety inspection, all racers are to be familiar with:
- Joining CBF, passing medical, signing waivers, obtain racing #'s for boat
- Joining TORC, your local club
- Asking how YOU can volunteer to support your class and race club
- Attending TORC AGM Nov 3(Ashbridges Bay, TO), 9am meetings first Sat of each month through to spring 2013
- Meeting a great buch of people who share same passion

Sounds like a fun time for all :P

I like the prop testing & may have a few to provide.
Would we need to sign up with APBA for racing licence?

I would get everyone to pay a small deposit to see who is serious about racing.

Any testing location would need a safety crew/boat & plans for testing.
Hosp. plans inclass something goes wrong.

Drinking & driving should not be accepted,
"Only need 1 drunk to kill this site & class"

Insurance & liability waver would have to be signed at each site.

I would like to see a web-site just for a drag class.
Would be more interesting to see pics, spec, rules, etc.
I am looking forward to play with you guys & will help anyway I can.

Its going to be fun for all,
Even trying to find a few more people in Montreal to come to the races.

Maybe even provide rides (back seat), for anyone interested in the sport.

Run the first race of the year as "pinks all out"
Everyone run a practice run & match to drag (good idea)

See you all soon,
Jeff

What if somebody wants to run multiple boats?
What's the rule regarding switching boats between heats?
