If you build light seats be sure to use Kevlar with them, carbon is like razor blades when or if it fails and can be deadly. Carbon Kevlar is fine.

Thanks RBT for the recommendation.
composites Canada has a kevlar and carbon fabric that looks pretty nice! i dont think ill be laying up a seat in carbon just yet. because I don't have the cash flow to let me buy carbon fiber unless people want carbon fiber seats and are willing to purchase.
I will be making a call today and going to figure out the price on some exotic materials. so I can get a better idea on what a big carbon fiber layup would cost.

Hey guys!
well a bit of progress has been made on making this seat mold into a piece i can vacuum infuse quickly
The mold is flipped over and i am cutting out a "rim" around it out of marine grade ply
this lip will then be sanded, epoxied and layed in gelcoat, and with the help of polyfair i will seamlessly incorporate it into the seat so that i can use this lip to adhere my vacuum bag and vacuum lines too,
thus building a seat that i can infuse very easily!
so for those of you that want a seat!, by next week i hope to have one of these babies done!
and ill weigh it as well.
my first seat i popped out of the mold was a hand layup, slightly over built but it weighed in just under 6 lbs. which is probably to heavy for the racer!

Not sure yet Sir!
to be honest i am not even sure what to charge for a regular seat.
however i have built some of these before i posted on here for some go car guys and i sold them for about 100- 150 bucks a piece ( fiberglass) ill know better shortly on the time while infusing
with CF, I will find out tomorrow.
which brings me to my next question.....
what would YOU pay for a new CF seat?

so far thats 3 CF seats people have been interested in, so i may end up buying 10 yards of it or so and laying a couple CF seats up.
now with the Advice from RBT, it wont be pure CF, it will be CF and Kevlar due to safety reasons.

As with you Jeff.

Here is my frame for the seat , next will be sanding, some resin and Polyfair to fill the small void, then i'll lay down tooling gelcoat.
going to be good for bagging. I hope!
